Type the function. Read the graph. Pick the answer. The method that turns 4-minute problems into 30-second ones.

1
Type the function
No setup, no algebra. Just paste the equation from the problem into Desmos.
2
Watch it graph instantly
Parabolas, lines, intersections - all visible at a glance.
3
Read the answer
Vertex, roots, intersections - the answer is right there, no formulas needed.

Average solve time drops from 4 minutes to 30 seconds. That's your 800.

Spend 2 minutes on algebra, or 4 seconds on a graph.

Q · What is the maximum value of f(x) = −0.5x² + 2x + 6?
Algebra-first ~ 2 min
  1. Identify a = −0.5, b = 2, c = 6.
  2. Confirm a < 0 → parabola opens down → max exists.
  3. Recall vertex x = −b / 2a.
  4. Plug in: x = −(2) / (2·−0.5) = −2 / −1.
  5. So x = 2 (this is just the x-coordinate, not the answer).
  6. Substitute back: f(2) = −0.5(2)² + 2(2) + 6.
  7. Square first: (2)² = 4 → −0.5·4 = −2.
  8. Multiply middle term: 2·2 = 4.
  9. Add: −2 + 4 + 6.
  10. Maximum value y = 8.
Graph-first ~ 4 s
Type the equation. Read the peak height. y = 8.

Three moves that move the score.

Five meters. No formula. No algebra. Every lesson is built around one principle - visual reasoning beats algebraic computation on a timed test.

This is what practice looks like.

Every question is solvable from the graph. That's why your speed jumps from problem one, not from problem fifty.

The method isn't ours. The evidence is public.

We're just starting - no student stories yet. But the case for graph-first isn't speculative: it's in College Board's own design, in r/SAT's consensus, and in 30 years of cognitive science.

The Digital SAT includes a built-in Desmos graphing calculator.
Bluebook provides Desmos for the entire Math section, alongside a minimal formula sheet and an adaptive two-module structure. The tool is official, not optional.

Community consensus 02
High-scoring students treat Desmos as a primary problem-solving tool.
In a r/SAT thread on reaching 700+, contributors call Desmos "a powerful tool" and list dozens of question types where graphs, intercepts, and sliders replace algebra.

Visual representations support secondary-school math problem solving.
A 2025 systematic review of 19 empirical studies finds that visual approaches - often via tools like Desmos and GeoGebra - are widely used for word problems and geometry.

The Digital SAT Math test is adaptive by module.
Math is split into two modules; performance on module one determines the difficulty of module two. Reading the graph fast in module one directly raises your ceiling in module two.
